Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit DLC Review

DLC Reviews

They could have packaged the DLC into one single download, but they decided to milk us for all we’re worth. And I don’t blame them, this game is great, just like Heroin, and I need another hit. Better make it 3. Here we go then, with the NFS: Hot Pursuit ‘Armed & Dangerous’, ‘Porsche Unleashed’ and ‘Lamborghini Untamed’ DLC packs.

SOISOISOISOI

Following on from the highly successful ‘Super Sports’ DLC pack, which was proper good like, come 3 DLC packs designed to add longevity to one of the most simple, yet incredibly fun racing formats available. Need something more from your tour of Ryan Seacrest County do we? This should fix you up for while.

BRING ON THE WALL.

Armed & Dangerous – 560MSP

Just like the other two packs also released as part of the same recent flow of DLC, this one is the only real unique pack. Coming with it, a handful of new achievements and two new game modes, ‘Arms Race’ and ‘Most Wanted’.

‘Arms Race’ takes the standard (Boring) 8 person free-for-all race format and chucks some weapons in ‘for the lulz’. The race then turns into a spam-fest, with racers smashing up on the d-pad the entire time to try and call in the all elusive SCPD Helo. It can be fun, I guess, although from most of the games I played, only 2 of the 8 cars crossed the finish line, the others demolished by EMP-whoring fucktards who spend the majority of the race at the back of the pack, before overtaking in the last few miles. Twats.

‘Most Wanted’ is actually, very good. The standard 4vs4 ‘Hot Pusuit’ game mode is altered, with one person on the racers side being labelled the ‘Most Wanted’. The race only ends when this racer either escapes the cops catchment area, or he is taken out. The other racers must protect him, which of course, they don’t. What makes this mode unique though, are the track boundaries, of which there are none. The chase can go anywhere in Seacrest Country, brilliant stuff.

Jus' cruisin' yo.

Porsche Unleashed – 560MSP

A handful of new (and old) Porsche models in both cop and racer colours, meet with 5 new events for both racer and cop career modes, covered with a sprinkling of gamerscore.

Lamborghini Untamed – 560MSP

See ‘Porsche Unleashed’, replacing every word ‘Porsche’ with ‘Lamborghini’.

Summary

How much do you love the best racing game of 2010? Are you willing to spend slightly over the odds Microsoft Points on increasing your enjoyment of this game? Do you want more cars in your game? If you answer ‘Yes’ to all of these questions, then you are just as much as a twat as me, I bought all 3, I fucking love this game, do you? Or are you some kind of NFS hating Hitler?

If you are not as addicted to this game as me, but still want something ‘fresh’ from this game, then by all means avoid the Lambo and Porsche packs, and go for the Armed and Dangerous one.

Armed & Dangerous – BUY

Porsche Unleashed  – AVOID

Lamborghini Untamed – AVOID

Enjoy.
